Additions & renovations vary depending on the design & materials of the job. Expect 150-400/sq feet (minimum 100 sq ft). Rates are hourly or daily from $45-$150/hr. ● Here is a project and how MrFixAll made short order of it. Example: Replacing a load-bearing wall w/an I-beam. ● The client wanted to open up a family room by removing a load-bearing wall but did not want center supports for an 18-ft span. The 1st thing was determining if we could get an 18-ft, 960-lb I-beam into the area. After that, we noted the load to be 40-lbs/sq ft and had an engineer approve the beam. For this case, the I-beam was 8x48 (8" wide) w/48 lbs of live load per running foot the length of the beam. Our entry point for the beam was a straight run down 13 stairs and thru the load-bearing wall into the f/room. Using a flat deck trailer, ¾" steel pins & three 2x10's, we built a shoot & hooked the beam to our winch, easing it down the stairs onto waiting mobile dollies. We rolled it into place, framed support walls on both sides of the bearing wall & removed the wall. Built a plywood sleeve & drilled holes in it, & as we jacked the beam into place moved the steel pins up the sleeve as the jack-length would permit.
